This is a series of Gods and Goddesses inspired by Hindu Calendar art. The images are painted in a way to make the Deities approachable and friendly, so we can get to know their Divine qualities and begin to see them in ourselves.
Pastlives of the Buddha
This series of paintings was inspired by the murals found inside the caves of Ajanta in India. The Ajanta Caves are two thousand year old Buddhist caves that were carved out of a hillside and filled with magnificent sculptures and murals that depict the past lives of the Buddha. It is said that when Buddha sat under the Bodhi Tree, he remembered all the good deeds of his past lives. These narratives make up what is known as the Jakata Tales. In many of the stories, The Buddha was an enlightened animal who taught kindness, loyalty, devotion, and other divine qualities to the human characters.
